There is no better way to spend a summers afternoon than enjoying live music in the a well loved park using a historic bandstand located in Parson’s Close Recreation Ground. Why not come join us, admission is FREE, just don’t forget to bring a chair.

The Town Council has organised Sunday afternoon band concerts for many years which showcase brass and silver bands from around the region. The concerts now include jazz and popular music offering a diverse and entertaining programme to suit all tastes. This will take place every Sunday 3pm – 5pm beginning on Sunday 2nd June until 8th September, except August bank holiday weekend where there will be no concert.

On Saturday 14th September, our concert series draws to a close with an evening performance featuring live singers and a full concert band, before live big screen coverage of the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms. The concert begins from 6:30pm onwards and is closed by a spectacular firework finale. Prom goers are invited to bring a picnic and their best red, white and blue!

Visitors have the opportunity to purchase refreshments throughout the concert season from the newly opened kiosk located by the Splash and Play park.

Parson’s Close Recreation Ground is a very short walk from the Town Centre and the closest car park is Duncombe Drive (LU7 1SD).
