Celebrating traditional skills, canal life and conservation

The ever popular one day canal festival celebrates and highlights canal life and conservation, the countryside and the traditional rural crafts of yesteryear.

Along the canal side a vibrant mixture of working, historical and trade boats display their wares in addition to the colourful pleasure boats which visit the festival. The boats offer the perfect opportunity to purchase that unique gift for a loved one, or a gentle afternoon browse away from the hustle and bustle of a busy shopping centre.

The festival features a mix of Old English crafts and skills, alongside a more modern mix of food stalls, craft exhibits and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Throughout the day the main stage often features a mixture of traditional folk and English country music, together with some more contemporary numbers from local performers.

In 2017, over 9,000 people took the opportunity to visit the festival and share time with family and friends in the countryside environment. With a wide range of food stalls and a licensed bar on site, eating/drinking whilst taking a seat on a hay bale, is all part of the festival and enjoyed by many annually.

If you are interested in taking part in the Canal Festival as a stall holder, exhibitor, demonstrator or canal boat owner, please return the expression of interest form found here CF 2018 Expression of Interest.
