Celebrating traditional skills, canal life and conservation
The ever popular one day canal festival celebrates and highlights canal life, conservation, the countryside and the traditional rural crafts of yesteryear. 2018’s Festival was again, a huge success with over 9,000 visitors attending to enjoy great entertainment, good quality stalls and some beautiful boats.
With the continued growth of the event, we have extended the stage programme, stalls, food and bar opening until 8pm within the Paddocks, with the headline act playing us through until the end of the Festival. The peaceful Lakeside and historical Poplars areas of the event will finish at 5pm as previously.
Along the canal side a vibrant mixture of working, historical and trade boats display their wares in addition to the colourful pleasure boats which visit the festival. The boats offer the perfect opportunity to purchase that unique gift for a loved one, or a gentle afternoon browse away from the hustle and bustle of a busy shopping centre.
The festival features a mix of Old English crafts and skills, alongside a more modern mix of food stalls, craft exhibits and activities for the whole family to enjoy
Throughout the day the main stage often features a mixture of traditional folk and English country music, together with some more contemporary numbers from local performers.
With a wide range of food stalls and a licensed bar on site, eating/drinking whilst taking a seat on a hay bale, is all part of the festival and enjoyed by many annually.
The Canal Festival is supported by the Canal & River Trust, Central Bedfordshire Council, Cedars Upper School and Linslade Middle School alongside our charitable partners, stallholders and demonstrators.
