Can you make a change?

Our WAY (we are youth) group are running an awareness campaign to begin a discussion about small changes that can be made to benefit the environment. Other benefits include saving money and learning new skills.

Below are some of the ideas they have come up, and they would love for you to get involved! Are you up for a challenge?

To celebrate we will be offering a hamper for those getting involved. Winner to be selected at random on Friday 28 April.

What can you do?

Don't Waste Food
How? Do a food stocktake, meal plan, cook in bulk and freeze unused food Benefits: Save money, save time and save the planet
Green Eco Friend
Buy Eco Friendly Alternatives
Know your labels - when buying food or new products, try and buy local and sustainable. Only buy products with sustainable palm oil.

Clean Green
Swap cleaning and laundry products. Use refills. Use cooler washes and wash clothes less.

Eat Less Meat
Swap a meat meal for a vegetarian one once a week. Have smaller meat portions. Try meat alternatives.

Reduce, Reuse, Repair & Recycle
Buy less, ask 'Do I need it?', use recycling facilities - recycle banks, waste recycling centres, take unwanted items to the charity shop, or give away and sell. Buy second hand, learn to upcycle or use apps such as Vinted, Facebook Market Place & Gumtree

Use Less Energy
Turn off appliances rather than being on standby, and make sure they are turned off it you leave the room. Turn down the temperature on your boiler. Turn your heating down by one degree. Use an airfryer to cook food and insulate your home.
