The Big Lunch Food Festival

Returning in 2021, our Big Lunch not only has a new date, but new timings and a new venue too! To ensure the safety of members of the public along with those working and selling at the event, our Big Lunch Food Festival will take place on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd August in Parson’s Close Recreation Ground where a reservation will be required to attend.

A variety of world foods along with live performances from Mariachi Tequila and party band Revolve will take place at each of the sessions during the weekend. Sessions will operate between 11am – 2pm & 3pm – 6pm on Saturday 21st August and 11am – 2pm on Sunday 22nd August to ensure the maximum number of people are able to enjoy the event.

Reservations are able to be made in groups of up to 6 who will be able to book a table for the duration of the session which is socially distanced from other groups attending.

Reservations can be made from Monday 2nd August and a dedicated reservation webpage along with a reservation phone number will be made available prior to the reservation period opening. The Big Lunch event will take place in-line with government restrictions at the time and is subject to change at short notice.

Originally established to coincide with the Nationwide Big Lunch initiative, the festival celebrates all things food and drink, as well as offering the community a chance to enjoy dining “al fresco” and the opportunity to catch up with family and friends. In 2019 over 4,000 people took to the high street to enjoy the street party atmosphere of the event.

A large number of stalls offer a diverse selection of hot and cold food, savouries/snacks, drinks and other food related products. Cookery demonstrations take place throughout the day showing practical culinary tips alongside workshops for both children and adults offering a ‘have-a-go’ experience. Live entertainment and acts suitable for all ages bring additional enjoyment to visitors attending the festival.

The Big Lunch national initiative is run by Eden Projects, more details can be found here: https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/thebiglunchhomepage.
