Music in the Park
There is no better way to spend a summer’s afternoon than enjoying live music in a well lovely park with a historic bandstand such as the one located in Parsons’s Close Recreation Ground. Why not come join us, admission is FREE, just don’t forget to bring a chair.
Band concerts on a Sunday afternoon take place from June to September.
The Town Council has organised Sunday afternoon band concerts for many years which showcase brass and silver bands from around the region. The concerts now include jazz and popular music offering a diverse and entertaining programme to suit all tastes. This will take place every Sunday 3pm – 5pm beginning on Sunday 2nd June until 8th September, except August bank holiday weekend where there will be no concert.
Visitors have the opportunity to purchase refreshments throughout the concert from the newly opened kiosk located by the Splash ‘N’ Play park.
New Grand Finale for 2019
On Saturday 14th September, our concert series draws to a close with an evening performance featuring live singers and a full concert band, before the live big screen coverage of the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms. The concert begins from 6:30pm onwards and is closed by a spectacular firework finale. Prom goers are invited to bring a picnic and their best red, white and blue!
Please note there is no parking at Parson’s Close Recreation Ground, it is a very short walk from the Town Centre and the closest car park is Duncombe Drive (LU7 1SD).
