Linslade Canal Festival
The ever popular one day canal festival celebrates and highlights canal life, conservation, the countryside and the traditional rural crafts of yesteryear. 2019’s Festival was again, a huge success with visitors attending to enjoy great entertainment, good quality stalls and some beautiful boats.
The Linslade Canal Festival takes place on the last Saturday in July attracting over 9,000 visitors.
With the continued growth of the event, we decided to extend the stage programme, stalls, food and bar opening until 8pm within the Paddocks at 2019’s event and the headline act played us through until the end of the Festival. The peaceful Lakeside and historical Poplars areas of the event still finished at 5pm. The event started at 11:00am.
Along the canal side a vibrant mixture of working, historical and trade boats display their wares in addition to the colourful pleasure boats which visit the festival. The boats offer the perfect opportunity to purchase that unique gift for a loved one, or a gentle afternoon browse away from the hustle and bustle of a busy shopping centre.
The festival features a mix of Old English crafts and skills, alongside a more modern mix of food stalls, craft exhibits and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Throughout the day the main stage often features a mixture of traditional folk and English country music, together with some more contemporary numbers from local performers. Performers are also found around the event site dancing or playing music.
With a wide range of food stalls and a licensed bar on site, eating/drinking whilst taking is all part of the festival and enjoyed by many visitors.
The Canal Festival is supported by the Canal & River Trust, Central Bedfordshire Council, Cedars Upper School and Linslade Middle School alongside our charitable partners, stallholders and demonstrators.
If you would like to take part in next year’s event, bookings will go live in January 2020 so watch this space!
