About our cemetery sites
The Town Council currently owns and maintains two cemetery sites within the parish of Leighton-Linslade – Old Linslade and Vandyke Road.
Cemetery and memorial services are available to all, with subsidised costs available to residents of Leighton-Linslade parish. Non-resident fees apply to anyone not living within the parish boundary (see Fees and Charges document below for further detail on resident definition).
The cemetery grounds are open to the public daily throughout the year and funerals are accepted, by prior arrangement, between the hours of 09:00-14:00 (Monday – Thursday) and 09:00-13:00 on Fridays.
Opening Times:
On weekdays, both cemeteries are open to visitors between:
08:00-17:00 in winter
08:00 – 20:00 in summer
The cemeteries open 09:30 on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Construction of Mausoleum 2
Leighton-Linslade Town Council is considering the construction of an additional Mausoleum at the Vandkye Road Cemetery. We are now undertaking a consultation survey to establish the level of interest there may be in the community for a second mausoleum.
The details of the agreement that any potential purchaser would be required to enter into can be downloaded below.

Vandyke Road Cemetery
Vandyke Road Cemetery is located on Vandyke Road in Leighton Buzzard and has a beautiful chapel which seats up to 32 people and has a working organ on site. It was opened in 1884. A public design competition was held for the design of the chapel and the lych gate, both of which are undergoing restoration works in 2024. There is limited capacity remaining for new interments, in the Woodlands section only. The site has 6 car parking spaces.

Old Linslade Cemetery
Old Linslade Cemetery is located in Old Linslade beside the lovely old St Mary’s Church. It was opened in 1964. There is very limited remaining capacity for new interments at the cemetery and there are restrictions on the type and size of the memorial allowed. One headstone, vase, tablet or wooden cross is permissible. The site has 8 car parking spaces.
