Charter BannerThe Town’s Marvellous Markets

Last autumn, The Retail Group was contracted by Leighton-Linslade Town Council to review the Leighton Buzzard Market and identify potential areas for improvement of the markets operations and the overall layout. The report included a number of key recommendations for Council to consider in looking to make the market a vibrant and welcoming place for shoppers and traders alike. Find out more here.

The Leighton Buzzard Market is held in the heart of our High Street every Tuesday and Saturday. There has been a thriving market in Leighton Buzzard since medieval times, yet these days the livestock that once wandered up and down the High Street has now been replaced by a wide and colourful range of stalls selling everything from fruit and vegetables to vintage gifts.

• A Farmers’ Market is held on the third Saturday of the month, offering all that’s best in local food produce. This popular event has been running monthly since November 1999.

• A more recently introduced Handmade in Bedfordshire Craft Fair runs on the fourth Saturday of each month and offers an interesting, appealing and sometimes surprising selection of local arts and crafts.

• The new and exciting Pop-Up Market runs on the first Saturday of each month. This market gives start up or existing businesses the chance to promote themselves directly to the public.

Speciality Markets are also held in the high street from time to time. We are always interested in expanding the variety of Speciality Markets on offer; please contact us if you run such a market & are interested in working with us.

And while you’re there … why not look around the town centre.
The centre of town is a wonderful place to visit. All around the Town Centre are streets, mews and passageways containing a wide variety of shops, stores and places to eat and drink. We are a town blessed with a healthy amount of independent shops, all offering quality goods.

If you are interested in becoming a trader yourself please contact the Market Office on 01525 631920/ 07812088116 or email to discuss.
