The Town Council is holding a free Diamond Jubilee celebration! The event in Pages Park will be based on the theme of a Gala summer fete with a programme of activities and entertainment for all the family.   From classic cars of the 1950’s to a Children’s Fancy Dress Competition, from jam and cake making to traditional fair and garden games. We invite everyone to come along and join in with the special celebrations.

A musical programme runs throughout the day and will include performances from Heath Band, Fenny Stompers Jazz Band, Harmony and children from Leanne Hughes Theatre School. There will be several competitions for children, with Diamond Jubilee rosettes and medals will be awarded to the winners. Parachute games will be organised for the 5 - 8 year olds and local cricket club will show youngsters how to have fun with cricket. Members from Leighton-Linslade Croquet Club will be on site to demonstrate the skills and art of this popular lawn game and offer “have a go sessions” for visitors.

As part of the community, from the young to the old, you are warmly invited to join our "1952" street party to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee.  During these tough economic times we are taking a step back in time to capture the post war community spirit and enjoy an afternoon of old fashioned fun in the car park of The Hunt Hotel and the Park. Bring your family and friends, get dressed up in 1950's clothes and be part of this extraordinary experience!

We will be planting an oak sapling with a plaque to honour this occasion for generations to come.

Tickets are available for just £1 per person, from either the Hunt Hotel or via email wendy.samuel@hunthotel.co.uk and will be available to purchase until 10 May 2012. Tickets will not be available on the day. You will not need money on the day as everything is included. So come and join your community and be part of this unforgettable experience.

Want to organise your own event?

Be a 'Big Lunch Jubilee Champion'!

The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many of the 62 million people in the UK as possible to get together with their neighbours for a few hours of community, friendship and fun, once a year. In 2012 it is celebrating The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and will be called The Big Jubilee Lunch.

A Big Jubilee Lunch can be anything from a few neighbours getting together in the garden or on the street, to a full blown party with food, music and decoration that quite literally stops the traffic.

The Big Lunch team are currently looking for volunteers to help grow the success of the campaign by promoting the initiative in their local area. Big Lunch Champions can get involved by spreading the word, going along to promotional events, distributing materials and providing support to communities organising a Big Lunch in their area. It will be a rewarding role, offering a fantastic opportunity to connect with other community spirited people in your area and spread the Eden message. To find out more about becoming a Big Lunch Champion contact camilla.baker@thebiglunch.com or call 0207 255 6468.
