WANT TO 'MAKE SPORT HAPPEN' NEAR YOU??

Sport Makers is part of Sport England’s London 2012 Games legacy initiative, ‘Places, People, Play’.

The programme aims to use the inspiration of the Olympics to recruit, inspire and deploy 40,000 new volunteers that make sport happen in communities across England from October 2011 to September 2013.

Within the Bedfordshire, team BEDS&LUTON will engage over 700 new 16+ volunteers and support them to access community sport volunteer projects following completion of an inspirational workshop / convention led by facilitators including previous Olympians.

Sport Makers are the people who directly make sport happen at the local level. Some Sport Makers will organise sport for themselves and their friends, colleagues and neighbors. Others won’t be taking part themselves, but will be doing all those other things that make the sporting activity possible.

Everyone who chooses to become a Sport Maker in Bedfordshire will be invited by their county sports partnership (CSP) team BEDS&LUTON to attend an inspiring workshop near to where they live or work. They will then be supported to find local opportunities that suit them to increase participation in which ever sport they wish to be involved in.
