Leighton-Linslade Town Council would like to thank everyone who came along to the second Public Engagement Event which focussed on Social Infrastructure.
Over 50 local residents attended the event at which presentations were given on what had been achieved in the town over the last three years and what was still to be done. An opportunity was also provided for residents to suggest extra actions that would be needed over the coming years.
Topics in the Social Infrastructure presentation included the success of local residential associations under the umbrella a FORATAILL (Federation of Residents and Tenants Associations in Leighton-Linslade), with the recent refurbishment of the community house at Meadow Way showcased as an example of what a local community can achieve.
The success of local community and voluntary groups were also mentioned with The Arts Forum, Leighton Buzzard Women’s Institute, The University of the Third Age and Leighton-Linslade Homeless Project highlighted as local successes.
The presentation concluded with a section on Funding Advice for volunteer groups with a list of workshops and contacts available. Issues raised by the audience included the need for more space to celebrate the work of local artists. It was suggested that the White House itself could be display such works of art and be a showcase for the many talented people within the Parish.
